crumple ~ v 1 also crumple up to crush something so that it becomes smaller and bent, or to be crushed in this way  (I had crumpled up about ten sheets, trying to write the letter.) 2 if your face crumples you suddenly look sad or disappointed, as if you might cry 3 if your body crumples, you fall in an uncontrolled way because you are unconscious, drunk etc  (Watkins crumpled in a heap and the referee stopped the fight.)
